words / love

Tell your family, your friend, or your special someone that you love them, every single day, and show them how much you care about them. I recently lost a friend of mine that I knew since middle school. He was only twenty years old, and lost his life in a bus crash that slipped on an icy road. It pains me to see these kinds of things happen to people so young, because they have so much to live for, and it reminded me of the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut and all of those children. My friend and I weren't the closest of friends, and I only wish I could have known him better. It's hard to think about the unknown, and it can be frightening at times. I try to live everyday like it's my last and make sure that I always do something meaningful and worthwhile. I try to show my family how much I love them, and how grateful I am to have them still in my life. With everything going on in the news lately, I tend to shut myself out of the outside world because I don't want to deal with the fear and the sadness. I try to pretend that I live in this perfect world of happiness, but we all know that's not true. It's not until something happens to us personally, that we wake up and realize how real things are.  — Minna

  2. So sad. It's true that sometimes it takes tragedy to put things in perspective and remind you to cherish the ones close to you.

  4. Hi Minna, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. When tragedy happens it’s scary and it hurts. You’re right, the news does make you just want to crawl back in bed where it’s safe. I try to use John 16:33 to pull through the times when everything looks bleak. Praying for you & all who knew/loved your friend. <3
